1 Year Anniversary

I can’t believe it’s already our 1 year anniversary! Time flies when you’re having fun. Since our wedding we have been to 5 countries, countless cities and states. We love to travel and we have been doing a lot of it but mostly for Lorenzo’s work.

In this last year we have grown so much as a couple, learning how to love each other better every day. One of my favorite things about Lorenzo is he’s a total bad ass in day to day life, but such a softie with my children and I. He’s so patient, when I’m moody he knows to handle it. Probably since he’s a dad to 5 daughters and has dealt with many, many mood swings! He’s a really sweet, generous person, I always wish people could see that side of him. He rarely portrays that side of him in a movie role due to the character’s he cast as.

I always call him my gentle giant because he really is! He’s very loving, attentive to my needs and knows what I need before even I do. I’m also happy to report, the bi-monthly flowers have been continued throughout our marriage. I had some people say it’ll stop once we are married. He spoils me!

Those are just a few photos of them over the last year. I’m truly a very lucky lady!
We both are big believers in always dating your partner, even after you’re married. We take each other out to dinner or breakfast at least once a week. We love to walk around Target with coffee and look around together, we turn running errands into a fun event. It’s just the little every day things like watching murder documentaries (don’t judge), having dessert in bed and cuddling that are great bonding moments and my favorite nights.

Yesterday, we spent our first anniversary enjoying the day together. Lorenzo brought me flowers, a beautiful card and had a special present saved for his secret dinner reservations. I work at this luxury boutique that has the most amazing men’s wear. This brand, Velvet (by Graham Spencer), is one of my favorites! It’s not made of velvet, ironically but all of their clothes are so buttery soft. I got him a lounge wear set for his Sunday Night Football days. Also, yayyy for employee discounts.

We went to dinner and we had an incredible meal at one of our favorite local restaurants, Beverly’s. It’s at the Coeur d’Alene Resort and they gave us our own private dining room with beautiful views of the lake. Plus a free anniversary dessert. It had a candle in it, I’ve never made an anniversary wish before so that was a fun experience. Then Lorenzo had me open the most beautiful necklace from Gorjana. It’s so sparkly! We had a wonderful evening and I’ll spare you all the details of how our night ended. Needless to say it was a perfect day!

Trying to figure out what to do with an anniversary candle…

As I reflect on this past year the one word that comes to mind is “grateful”. We live a very beautiful life. It’s not always easy, we get into disagreements and sometimes get annoyed with each other if we are in each other’s space for too long. What matters is every day, we choose to love each other. We view each other as team mates instead of who is right and who is wrong. We respect each other deeply and understand we are individuals with our own needs and desires. We do our best to take care of each other, make sure the other person knows how much they’re loved and we laugh…a lot!

It’s been another wonderful year of Living La Vida Lamas. Stay tuned for more adventures! Thanks for reading, friends!

Congratulations to a year! My husband and I just experienced that ourselves, and you’re absolutely right. Always cherish the little things. Enjoy every little moment, every annoyance, every surprise, every disagreement, every joy, every just because moment.
